Serial number 45246 is which equates to a 1891 manufacture.
Stamped ontop of 28 inch Octagonal barrel is 40 Cal..which we believe is 40-60 Cal but we have not
confirmed this as 100%.. Also has MARLIN FIRE ARMS CO NEW HAVEN CT USA and a string of
Patent Dates - last one states 1890.
Considering age (135 Years Old) this gun is in excellant condition.
Hooded blade front sight, adjustable U notched semi buckhorn rear sight, Approx. 70% blueing
remaining, heavy octagon barrel, checkered spur hammer, tang drilled and tapped with Vintage
Lyman folding peep sight installed, smooth trigger action.
Two piece checkered wood stocks, pistol grip, smooth curved steel butt plate, full length magtube.
Nose cap retaining screw is in great condition.
Wear: Metal finish shows some light rust speckles, scratches, handling marks and wear. Stocks
show very few marks, scratches or wear - may have been refinished in its lifetime..
